Is it okay to reuse a crib mattress that has two small rips in it? What are the rules with crib mattresses? My year old crib mattress got two rips in it while moving, the rips are about ½ inch long. If I keep the side with the rips on the bottom and I put a mattress pad cover over the good side, will it be okay to use? I was planning on having the baby sleep on the good side and keep the mattress well protected with a waterproof mattress cover. What are the “rules” with crib mattresses? When should you throw them out or replace them?
Has anyone tried the non-toxic crib mattresses from Naturepedic? I have been reading a ton of literature about possible toxins in crib mattresses and am worried that it may be contributing to my daughter's eczema. I noticed a pattern. She only began getting the rash when she was put in her crib (around 3 months). I changed over to only cotton sheets and bumper, thinking maybe it was polyester, but she still gets the rash. It is horrible on her cheeks when she wakes up, but fades during the day when she's up and playing and away from the crib. I've been putting her in her playpen to sleep now and the rash is going away. I have ordered a cotton mattress from naturepedic and was wondering if anyone else has purchased one and what their experience has been.
How many mattresses should I put in my crib? My wife and I are expecting our first child, and the crib we registered for says to put four mattresses in it! I've never heard of multiple mattresses in cribs, so I'm wondering, is this safe? Yeah, I think it just may be a typo. It must be four mattress adjustments. Thanks for all of your help!
What is the best way to keep 2 single mattresses together in a king size bed? I am renting a house and the bed provided is a king size bed, but the mattress is made out of 2 single ones side by side. This is really uncomfortable as i tend to sleep in the middle of the bed. The mattresses get pushed apart slightly or there is a big dip in the middle. Does anyone have any solutions as to how i can keep them held together?
Where can I find free twin sized mattresses? I need these for a winter conference activity. They wouldn't need to be in perfect condition. Goodwill throws away tons of mattresses would they give me one? Or anywhere else?
What is the firmness like for memory foam mattresses? I bought a full-sized serta eurotop mattress (sundown sky with pillowtop) about a year ago. I used to own a fairly firm mattress for a large portion of my life, but decided to donate it and get myself a new one. I had initially decided to go with another firm mattress, but after trying the above mentioned mattress, I thought I found myself the perfect mattress. Anyway, after a year, I find the bed much too soft and find myself "sinking" into the mattress too much. I'm heavily considering getting a new mattress and I've heard rave reviews about the memory foam and the sleep number bed. i know the sleep number bed, you can control the firmness, but how firm are the memory foam mattresses? i was told that different models vary in firmness, but it is FOAM after all. how hard can foam possibly be??? thanks!
How are orthopaedic mattresses better than ordinary mattresses? I have tried both orthopaedic and normal mattresses and I find the orthopaedic are harder whereas the normal ones are easier to sink into and feel more comfortable. Although I think both give me the same quality of sleep. How exactly do ortopaedic mattresses benefit me over normal mattresses and do they work better for all people in general? Hope someone can assist.

Does anyone know the name equivalents to the Sealy mattresses sold at Costco? I want to order a bed online (the nearest Costco is a hour away and they don't have floor samples anyway) and need to go to a mattress store and test the same mattresses. I know the beds are the same but they switch out the names to sucker people. Is there a good mattress salesman out there who'll help me?

How can I put two frame mattresses next to each other? I want a bigger bed, and I'm thinking of doing it cheap. I have a chance to buy two frame mattresses and put them next to each other and have a thin mattress over them. But I'm wondering: will the frame mattresses glide apart?
What store sells inexpensive good quality mattresses? In my town they have "Mattress express" stores, that claim cheaper prices, there are furniture stores, and we have a PX (army store, kind of like Target, sells name brand stuff and serta mattresses). How often should you replace your mattresses? I know that dust mites allegedly double the weight of mattresses after years of use, and I am wondering if I can vacuum them out and then cover it with an allergy and dust mite fighting type cover.
What's the difference between these mattresses? I've been looking at beds, and they can come with different kinds of mattresses, sprung, protector, and comfort, going from cheapest to most expensive. What's the difference between them all, which one is better, and what do they do? Thanks in advance!
Is there a cheaper way to ship my mattresses without using a moving company? I will soon be moving to another state and I'm looking for alternate methods of moving my mattresses and one antique dresser. Does anyone have any ideas from previous experience? I'll be moving within the next two months and I'm not looking to pay a lot of money. I'll only be shipping these items and buying new furniture when I get to my new location. Thank you.
Original Mattress Factory: Are their mattresses high quality? I'm in need of a new mattress, and I'm considering one from The Original Mattresss Factory. I'm also looking at a Simmon's Beautyrest mattress which is on sale right now. Both are priced the about the same; the Original Mattress Factory one is $40.00 less. I'm just wondering, if the Original Mattress Factory mattresses are long-lasting, high-quality. Thanks so much for your help.
Do you get your mattresses steam cleaned? I read an ad in the paper offering steam cleaning of mattresses to rid of dust mites. I have NEVER heard of such a thing. I was wondering in anyone has done this and is it really beneficial?
Why is it illegal to cut the tag off of mattresses? You know the little plastic tags on the corner of mattresses, the contents of which I've never bothered to read, well, why is it against the law to cut those off? I mean, isn't it private property? And why do they care anyway?

Is a spring divan better than wood divan for all mattresses? I heard that a spring divan can extend the lifespan of a mattress by 68%. I also heard that the spring divan can enhance the whole spring system of the bed, leading to better overall comforts. Does a wood divan result in the same positive effects? Or is a spring divan more superior for all mattresses?
Where can I find great mattresses, but not too expensive? My mom && I went to Sleepy's the other day, and we found amazing mattresses, but they were a bit pricey.. I haven't physically gone to any places to look, but the major places I can think of a re Bed Bath and Beyond, Ethan Allan and Rooms to Go, but all of those places only sells bedframes and sheets--not the beds themselves. Anyplace in Rochester, NY or surrounding area that BUYS bedframes and mattresses? I am moving from the Southern Tier of New York to Upstate New York, around the Rochester area. I have a twin day bed and trundle bed along with two Serta Chelsea mattresses that I NEED to get rid of, but I WOULD like to get some money for them. Does anyone know of a place in Rochester, NY or the surrounding areas that buy bedframes and mattresses? Or, if any of you out there are interested, email me and I'll send you pictures of everything and we can arrange a time for you to pick them up.
Are bunkbed mattresses different than regular mattresses? We bought our son a set of bunkbeds and I thought that I have heard of bunkie boards (do those take the place of boxsprings or something?) and someone else told me I needed a special mattress. I guess bc I've never owned a set before I don't know? It is twin over twin, so we were just set to look for two regular twin mattresses.
