Green Decorating/revamping ideas?
Hi. I'd like to get some things in my home fro like, goodwill. Like a filing cabinet and bookcase to help in my orgaization resolution. But what are good ideas to do to those things to "revamp" them? Paint/decoration wise? Can you paint a filing cabinet? If yes, how? What kind? What else can you do with it (the outside of it)?? And also, I'm looking into making a bookshelf or bed frame (wooden, like with a headboard and all) out of recycled materials. I live in Sandusky, OH so I'm wondering where I can turn to to get recycled wood? Like do you just walk into a factory or home depot and say hey you got any old wood? Haha. What do I do or where do i go to find materials?

- Well I would say you can paint the filing cabinet whatever color works for you, make sure you get the correct kind of spray paint that is made to adhere to metal and painted surfaces. I don't think there is much else you can do with a metal filing cabinet, if you have a wood one you could do more with. I would say to find old wood and old materials to reuse the best thing to do is to put a sign up at church or ask your neighbors, just say, I am looking for old 2 x 4's or barn wood, if you want to reuse wood. If you want to make some kind of mosaic from old glass, go to an antique store and buy some old bottles and break them and use the glass pieces (carefully).
