my girlfriend has a cat that wont let us sleep at nite,how do we get him to stop being annoying?

My girlfriend has 4 cats and they are all loved very much, one of the kitties is not letting us sleep at nite, he is totally cool during the day everything is kosher but as soon as we lay down for the nite he starts jumping up on the headboard and trying to knock things off of the bookshelf and he goes at it all nite , and the only way he will stop sometimes is to feed him but recently that's not even working any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated thanks!! Also the cat is 7 yrs old so he is not a baby, my bad if i put kittie in the details

1. Spend 15-20 minutes playing with him before bed. That will tire him out so he will sleep on your schedule :) You can even use the laser pointer while you're in bed and have him run all around the room .
2. give him some warm milk and then play a little with him, that will make him sleepy.. i recently got a 5 week old kitten and she done the same so before going to bed i give her very little milk and put some warm water in it and give it to her she would go nuts then i play with her for at lease 30 mins and then put her in her bed and she would go right to sleep.. i know it sounds to good to be true but im serious it actually works!
3. shut him in another room for the night but be sure to leave him some food and a litter pan
4. He's a kitten he wants to play. You need to be with him like you would a baby. If the kitten is sleeping during the day then he's not gonna sleep at night. During the day and especially the evening about an hour or two before you go to bed play with the kitten, get him running around alot so he gets tired out. Also you could try closing the door at night so he can't get into your room and on the bed.
5. Try getting him in bed with you and pet him and pay attention to him...maybe that will chill him out and he'll decide to sleep with you instead of trashing the bedroom.
6. I never let my 3 cats in the bedroom at night and going into the bedroom during the day is rare, unless it's hot in the house because the bedroom is the only room in the house with air conditioning. Every once in a while I let them in during the day for fun when I'm cleaning the house.
