What 2 beds put together make a king size?

We bought an old house and our queen bed won't fit through the stair well, and none of the windows are big enough to take apart to get it up there. So, I know you can make a king size bed out of 2 beds but I can't remember if it's 2 twins or 2 doubles. And also I was wondering if I need or if they make something so the "crack" in the middle would be less noticeable. Thank you!

  1. Two twins make a King. Two doubles make a California King. I have a King sized mattress, but the company does not make a King size Box Spring so they sold us two twin size boxsprings instead and it fits perfect. If you put the two mattresses the long way it makes a sideways King size bed which is why some think it makes a shorter King size. Simply rotate the bed and you have a King. There does exist a fix for the crack, let me find the link....... http://www.esleepshop.com/create-a-king.htm
  2. 2 Doubles make a king 2 Twins make a queen
  3. Two Twins.
  4. I think it's going to be two twin beds. There is a device that can be used to fill the space between the two beds. I've seen it advertised in those catalogs like Harriet Carter or Lillian Vernon. Or do you have a Bed, Bath and Beyond or Linens n Things nearby? They may carry them. Good luck!
  5. Two twins make a short kingsize bed, or two long twins make a king. There is a product out there that you put in the crack to make it more like one bed. Amazon sells one called "create a king". A regular king has a split box spring so that it can fit in tighter spots. The mattress is still big, but flexible. That might work for your situation. Good luck in your new house :D
  6. Twins. There are no "king size" box springs. The stores put two twin boxes together..therefore, 2 twins matts, also! :)
  7. two twins
  8. I WORK AT A FURNITURE STORE okay most of these people are stupid cause 2 twins make a king and no bedding company makes king boxsprings. So you have to buy 2 twin boxsprings.. and to get rid of the crack in the middle just put a king sheet over the 2 twin mattresses
  9. 1 twin bed + 1 twin bed = king size bed
  10. The answer is twin beds the luxury thicker type. Velcro them together and use a foam pad on top use a king frame This is a direct answer to your question others suggest buy twin frames and buy one king size mattress. Its your choice it all depends if you can maneuver a king size mattress up stairs.
  11. they also now make split queen boxsprings...cheaper than buying another whole bed. if your box is actually just a platform, it can be split and rejoined as well. Just depends on how handy you are with a saw and a staple gun. In order to do that, you just need to unfasten the covering, cut the cross support in half lengthwise, and fold the boxspring in half. Once you get it up the stair, simply repair it by stapling the supports back in place, then replacing the box spring cover and stapling it back together. We have done this a couple of times when we've bought houses that have narrow or winding staircases.
  12. two reg. size beds duh
