What is the best way to push 2 double beds together to make one?

I am going on my honeymoon soon. The place we booked has 2 double beds (I wanted a King, but that wasn't available) So I want to push the beds together so we have a little extra room. Is there an easy way to do that so we don't fall through the mattresses in the middle of the night? We will be flying there, so I don't think taking a mattress cover is necessarily an option.

1. Ask the hotel to arrange it. When we go on our Spring holiday (we're dreary boring people who go to the same place each Spring) the hotel has two 3' beds pushed together and we have never had a problem with falling through the gap. The big problem, of course, is that the bedding covers won't fit if you are talking of two double beds.
2. Call the hotel before hand and let them know of your requirements. I'm sure the way they will arrange it you will NOT fall down thru the middle :P also, if the hotel cannot arrange it , then you can push the two beds together yourself...and of course if they are not made of cheap plastic or wood and are heavy enough you will still not fall off the bed (= happy honeymoon!
