How do I keep my cat from peeing on the beds in the house?
She is about 7 and she has been peeing on the beds in the house. We haven't been doing anything different with the litter or anything. We do have another cat but we've had him for as long as we've had her. Any suggestions my moms been cleaning comforters and sheets day in and day out. We try to keep the doors closed but the other cat can open them so she gets in there.

- Have you had your cat checked by the vet? Cats will sometimes change their litter box habits as a way of letting you know something is wrong. If you have multiple cats, consider adding another litter box. Typically, you should have one more box than you have cats. This would allow you to have one covered box and one uncovered, which would give the cat other options. Your cat may also be marking the beds because she can still smell the scent where she previously urinated in the bed. Make sure you're using a product that removes urine odor when you clean the spot on the mattress. If your cat hasn't been spayed yet, definitely consider doing this, as it reduces the desire to mark with urine. Finally, make sure you're cleaning the litter box well at least once a day, as cats will avoid a stinky litter box. You should also change out the litter at least once every couple of weeks, and change the box liner at the same time.
- Most cats do unusual behavior such as this to get your attention to say "mom or dad, somethings wrong and i dont feel good"- alot of the time if a cat pees in front of you, or on your stuff, especially your sleeping quarters which is sacred and they know this because so is theirs, they "may" have an awful UTI- Urinary Tract Infection. This is extremely common in cats of all ages and is cured with antibiotics from the vet. They can tell if you bring something with the urine on it already, by the crystals in their urine, but if you cant do this they run a blood test. UTI's are very painful for cats because these crystals pass thru the uretha, and in cat anatomy it is just as painful as it is for us humans! My advice is save the punishments for last and see if this is its way of crying for help the only way it knows how to the only person it understands can take care of him/her. Then after everything else is ruled out and its just a cat with severe issues, then there are many ways to deal with that as well, but lets rule out the medical reason first is my opinion. Good Luck and i hope this has helped some.
- Sometimes when there is another cat who uses the same litter box, the one cat will not use it. That's because it smells like another cat. Here are a few suggestions to help! Here are a few suggestions to your litter box problems: - Provide a box for each cat - Change litter daily - Provide constant access to a box - Go back to previously used brand of litter and/or - Discontinue new disinfectant - Move box to where it was previously used - Eliminate new or frightening noise near litter box - Move food and water away from litter box - If cat is only going in one spot, put the litter box at the exact location and gradually move it back to where you want it at the rate of one foot per day - If there are several places, try putting dishes of cat food in those areas to discourage further elimination there - Experiment with different textures of litter (cats prefer sandy litter) - Use a covered litter box for cats that stand in box but eliminate outside of it Or lock your bedroom doors!
